Despite the endorsement of several style icons, cardigans still scare many men and it’s little wonder why. Cardigans have a reputation of being more commonly used by older men, dads, and well grand dads Lol. I don’t even think so, oh well! But like it is with most things in fashion, how you style whatever piece goes a long way in telling the difference between someone that knows their fashion onions and someone that doesn’t.
You guys would agree that seeing this look, it’s not exactly my preferred suited up style, but I actually do love this look really much. Why? After all, it’s just a cardigan. The difference, ladies and gentlemen, is how that cardigan is styled.
A big part of how your cardigan skews can be dictated by the little styling touches. Like, say, leaving the bottom button undone if it has buttons, because you’re not 70. Or pushing the sleeves up to show off your very spectacular time piece (or, at least, bracelets).
Pay special attention to every other part of the complete outfit itself, especially the shoes! Wear statement shoes, trust me guys, they go a long way in determining what kind of person is wearing this knitwear, boring? or stylish!
Get some spring in your step! If you’re going granddad up top, then it’s not a bad idea to go bad ass down below. Think jeans (maybe even ripped or moto), slimline cargo trousers, tapered joggers, or even chinos.
If you’re going granddad up top, then it’s not a bad idea to go badass down below. Think jeans (maybe even ripped or moto), slimline cargo trousers, tapered joggers, or even chinos in a shade of khaki that’s closer to military green than old people’s home beige.
Fit-wise, keep it slim and/or tapered, which in turn keeps you squarely in contemporary and out of superannuated territory. I’m not saying that you can’t nail the pleated trend. Just that if you’re at all afraid of resembling a senior citizen, then give any leg wear that could be construed as ‘slacks’ a wide berth.
So there you have it guys, although that’s just a few tips for now, follow them and you’re pretty sure you can make this look work .. in jaw dropping style. Thank you for reading as always, I’d love to hear from you.
