PRINTS! A lot of prints .. Athleisure, Afrocentrism, Military inspired outfits and Bright Colors in all their elegance are just but a few of the major fashion trends that graced the vast runway at the Federal Palace hotel and casino, Victoria Island, Lagos, for this year’s edition of the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design week.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that our Nigerian Designers have now brought their A-Games to the Fashion Industry, with creative pieces, intricately designed, finished and detailed, so much so, as to compete with fashion brands all round the world.
I thought to share some of these amazing collections off the runway with you guys 🙂 and I’m sure you’ll see what I’m talking about as well 😉
Simple, well put together, and with a message, the Metanoia Collection was the perfect blend of Casual and Semi formal, I particularly loved the bomber jackets, and if you know anything about fashion, then you know that those are heavily in trend.
I was particularly blown away by the composition, the fabric and the styling of the ‘Circle of Life’ collection. I’m a huge fan of suits, I’m the suit guy, Lol which you probably already know, but I’m always open to new ways of styling a suit and Tokyo James definitely gave us one.
If you’re looking for that brand that screams different, then you’re looking for Maxivive! Although this collection was more ready to wear (I actually wore the military inspired look the next day), it still surely had its traditional Maxivive vibe, and the presentation of the collection was one to watch as well.
Definitely the show stopper! I’m not even certain if Johnson Johnson stopped the show or totally stole it, actually I think its the Latter .. From the pieces transcending from formal, to afrocentric, all the way to some traditional resplendence with perfectly tailored Agbadas ( which I hoped to see more of ) or maybe it was the proposal .. Haha YES, an actual proposal. Johnson Johnson absolutely gave us a Show!
MAXHOSA BY LADUMA
Oh this brand, I’ve known about Maxhosa for a minute, the famous South African brand that made amazing hand crafted pieces, little wonder why I was excited to watch their show and I wasn’t disappointed 🙂 zz See for yourself 😉
Go big or Go home, Lol I like that phrase, it could also mean if you know Fashion in Nigeria and you don’t know Orange Culture, GO home fam .. Or wait, just read about it here 😉 .. Giving a new face and a reputation to Nigerian fashion, this brand is making waves, colorful waves, just like the amazing colors and patterns in this collection.

Suits and Tuxedos tailored to perfection and gorgeous wedding dresses summarize the wedding collection showcased by Veteran designer, Mai Atafo. He gave us a show, as always, and I loved every one of them.
